Celebrating Milestones – 85 years of service | February 2020
Celebrating the success of our people is just as important as celebrating our success as a business. Recognising the service tenure of our team is one way of showing our appreciation for significant contribution to our business.
Recently we celebrated something pretty special, something that doesn’t often happen in the business. Three team members from our IT New Zealand team reached a combined 85 years of service.
It was likened to an Olympic Medal Ceremony
Bronze, Silver and Gold achievements were recognised for some very influential people within our IT team.
Bronze Medal – Dave Hall, 15 years of Service
Dave initially started working for the group as an IT contractor for Owens but was made an official team member in February 2005. He is a quiet achiever and has become a significant part of the New Zealand IT Team. Dave now leads our IT infrastructure team worldwide, and drives our cyber-security programme. We are so lucky to have this aspect of our technology in his SAFE hands.
Silver Medal – Nilesh Bhuthadia, 20 years of Service
Nilesh is a shining example of the Mainfreight’s ‘promote from within’ philosophy – he started at the bottom and he has worked his way up to his current position as Software Manager. He is in charge of many of our software solutions that are critical to us and our customers. He has an incredible appetite to take on challenges and he is not afraid to get on the floor and get his hands dirty. With his can-do attitude he has earnt the respect of our team around the world.
Gold Medal – Peter Webster, 50 years of Service
Peter starting working with the Daily Freightways team in 1970 and through the acquisition in 1994 he became a part of the Mainfreight Team. Peter was an integral part of our success in merging Daily Freight into the Mainfreight systems. He has played a huge part in the rollout of our driver scanners and is still the go-to person for many of our drivers who are having issues with their scanners. Peter has shown incredible dedication and determination to be in the business for so long, making him a prime example for those new team members coming up in the business.
Setting an example for our future leaders
Our people are the core of our business. Team members like these prove we are a business where you can build a long and successful career. In a company with over 8000 team members, it is great to know that every individual plays an important part in our 100-year vision.
