International Literacy Day

Today we proudly honor International Literacy Day and our partnerhsip with Books in Homes. The organization is modeled after Duffy Books In Homes New Zealand where our realtionship first blossomed. "Their driving purpose is to end “booklessness” and make a profound impact on the trajectories of our most vulnerable members, children living in under resourced communities, by inspiring a love of reading and establishing a foundation of success."

Mainfreight wears our close affliation to Books in Homes in our heart as we want all kids to own their books. This produces a love of reading and the ability to use literature to communicate effectively, broaden their wonderful imaginations and succeed in their future careers.

Throughout the year our local branches work directly with our friends at Books in Homes to run an event at a local elementary school.  A free bookfair is held allowing each student to collect books of their choice. Following the excitement of new books a Mainfreight team member narrates a story hour.

Mainfreight is excited to visit all new classes as children return to a brand new school year. Be sure to follow us to see our teams and Books in Homes working hand in hand throughout 2022 and beyond.

Books in Homes has supplied over 800,000 new books to kids across the United States. Would you like to help them reach 1 million? Donate today!
