Mainfreight crosses Whangarei’s newest bridge

Mainfreight Whangarei’s fleet were among the first to cross the towns new bridge, Te Matau ā Pohe or The Fishhook of Pohe. The bridge was officially opened in Whangarei on Saturday 27th July 2013 and is the second Harbour Bridge in Whangarei connecting Industrial Onerahi to the South side of the city.

Built to help relieve the traffic congestion around the city centre. It was mainly built by local companies taking just under two years and a cost of over $30 million to complete. Mainfreight Whangarei played its part by delivering material directly to the construction site.

Mainfreight Whangarei is located on Fertilizer Road, Port Whangarei. The new bridge will give the Team options for new pick-up and delivery routes around the city, in turn giving us the ability to provide freight to you quicker helping you get your stock out to the market as soon as possible. Locals see this new bridge as a way to get Whangarei moving and hopefully boost the economy in the long run.
