Mainfreight Ghent Official Opening

Mainfreight Ghent (Belgium) had an official opening on Wednesday 26 September 2018. A day earlier we opened a brand new facillity in Genk, also in Belgium. Not only are we opening up in more countries; we’re developing new services and locations within each region and each country.

The opening started with a traditional “kiwi” welcome. Special guests for this occasion were Alexander De Croo (Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium and Minister of Development Cooperation, Digital Agenda, Telecom and Postal Services), Bart Bosmans (Managing Director DAF Trucks Belgium and Luxemburg) and Joffrey Decock (Senior Global Trade Ernst & Young). Alexander De Croo is passionate about fostering sustainable economic growth. Being Belgium’s first minister of Digital Agenda, he is determined to support the digital transformation of Belgium’s economy and to seize the opportunities the digital revolution brings about for human and economic development. Bart Bosmans is well versed on the developments in sustainable transport and told us all about the future of environment-friendly transport. Joffrey Decock talked about the Brexit and shared his thoughts about potential opportunities and threats.

The Maori group that gave us a traditional kiwi welcome also taught us how to do the haka. Group Managing Director Don Braid, along with Frederik Gielis (Branch Manager Ghent) and Ben Fitts (CEO Europe) officially opened the branch by revealing the Mainfreight rock. The rock represents the strength of our family, culture and long standing commitment to the people of the region.

Mainfreight GhentWe see the importance of being as close to our customers as possible. By being as close as possible to our customers we can deliver sooner, more efficiently and more often. This physical closeness also means we can understand our customers’ businesses better, make fast decisions and recognise opportunities which simply aren’t apparent when doing business at a distance.
