Mainfreight introduces LHV in Belgium

We are proud to announce that we have obtained a permit for having the first LHV’s (Longer and Heavier Vehicle) driving in Belgium. By having LHV’s on Belgian roads, we are able to transport 7.2 loading meters more than with a regular trailer. This results in transporting more volume and emit less CO2.

To obtain this permit, Mainfreight had to meet the following three requirements.
1.    Approved route – route to be approved by the Belgium government
2.    Approved vehicles – vehicles approved by a Belgian inspection authority
3.    Skilled drivers – drivers who are to be in the possession of the LHV certificate

In Belgium you get a permit on the 'intermediate vehicle' (the dolly / B-double). On this license, the final approved combinations that are allowed to drive in Belgium are noted. At this moment, Mainfreight has a total of 4 trucks, 3 dolly's and 186 trailers which are allowed to drive in Belgium.

As a team we are proud of this result and seeing our Mainfreight LHV's on the Belgian roads.  Let’s paint the world blue!
