Mainfreight New Zealand Team rally together in support of Australian bushfire relief
In wake of the devastating bushfires across Australia, our New Zealand team once again demonstrated our strong family ethos by rallying together to organise a number of fundraising efforts.
It all started with an idea from one of our Air & Ocean sales reps in Tauranga to hold a ‘dress up in Aussie colours’ day with the team encouraged to bring a gold coin donation. From here the idea spread to the rest of the New Zealand sales teams which before they knew it had expanded to include truck washes and raffles run by different branches all across New Zealand.
These efforts were driven solely by the team and their generosity to dig into their own pockets to help their mates across the ditch. Through the mighty efforts our New Zealand team, $28,100 Australian dollars was raised. Mainfreight generously matched dollar for dollar the funds raised by the team.
This money was then sent to our Mainfreight leadership team in Australia who were inspired to also match the Mainfreight New Zealand team’s contribution, bringing to total funds raised to $84,300 Australian dollars.
Rodd Morgan, Australian Group General Manager, passed on his genuine thanks to “the Mainfreight New Zealand team for your fantastic spirit of generosity to raise such a significant amount for the bushfire victims. Your empathy, thoughts and most importantly actions, make us all feel very special."
A presentation was held at our Epping facility last week with Major Mark Kop & Jayne Campbell from The Australian Salvation Army there to accept the donation. To read more about The Australian Salvation Army’s bushfire recovery operations click here.
